The Balmes is a modern white resort hotel located in the old quarter of the seaside town of Calella, just 300 metres from the beach and 45 kilometres from Barcelona. Spread over four floors, the 135 air-conditioned guestrooms have a simple decor and functional furnishings with bright fabrics. All include satellite television, balconies and hair dryers. The half-board room rate option incoporates buffet breakfast and dinner, the full-board option incoporates buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The hotel boasts a large outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun terraces and with a hot tub and separate children's pool. Guests can enjoy an extensive buffet of international dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the air-conditioned restaurant or relax with a drink in the bar. There is table tennis, a pool table and a playground, and staff at the 24-hour front desk can assist with organising excursions for sports, shopping and sightseeing in the vicinity. A Mini Club runs from June until September for three hours a day and additional entertainment is provided three nights a week in low season, and six nights a week in high season. Guests arriving by car can make use of the parking garage for a supplement. There is also a dry cleaning and laundry service available on request. Attractions in the area include flamenco shows at the Gran Palace in Lloret de Mar, 25 kilometres away, and the surreal world of Salvador Dali can be experienced at the Dali Museum, Figueres, 85 kilometres away. Barcelona airport is located 50 kilometres (31 miles) away, a drive of approximately 45 minutes. |
