Location. The Hotel Moderno Verdi is located in the centre of Genoa, Italy, 50 metres from Brignole train station. The Palazzo Ducale, the Romanesque San Lorenzo Cathedral and the Carlo Felice Theatre are all one kilometre from the hotel. Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport is seven kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Decorated in the Liberty style, the Hotel Moderno Verdi features an ornate stone archway that leads into a lobby studded with wooden panels and mirrors. Deep scarlet carpets lead to the 24 hour front desk. The air conditioned lobby is stocked with complimentary newspapers and features a television. Garage parking is available on site (surcharge).
The Hotel Moderno Verdi's restaurant, Rigoletto is dressed in classic white tablecloths and swathed in ivy. The menu offers international, Italian and local Ligurian dishes, accompanied by a selection of regional wines. Offering aperitifs and light refreshments, the lounge is characterised by barrel backed seating and cushioned stools and dotted with pot plants.
Guestrooms. The Liberty theme continues into the Hotel Moderno Verdi's 87 guestrooms, where angular coving and carved wooden furnishings meet either pastel floral patterns or bold Art Deco stripes. Amenities include satellite television, complimentary high speed Internet ports, minibars and complimentary newspapers. Classic white bathrooms feature combination showers and tubs.
Expert Tip. Although never officially proven, it is widely believed that Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa. The cramped mass of stones that can be seen a few steps from the Porta Soprana Medieval Gates are said to constitute the explorer's former house. |

From Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA):
Distance to Hotel Moderno Verdi is seven kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Taxis are available from outside the terminal and cost about 25 EUR to Hotel Moderno Verdi. The Volabus service runs hourly between the airport and Brignole and Stazione Principe railway stations. Brignole station is 50 metres from the hotel. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Genoa city centre is easy to explore on foot. There is an extensive bus network, as well as a limited metro service. An unlimited day travel pass costs 3 EUR. Passes are available from kiosks and AMT ticket offices. Ferries operate from the harbour to many coastal resorts, including Santa Margherita and Rapollo. |
