Location. The New Kydonia is located in the village of Daratsos, Greece, five kilometres from the historical port of Hania on the island of Crete. Sandy beaches are 1.5 kilometres from the hotel, and the Samaria Gorge National Park is 40 kilometres away. Chania Airport is 15 kilometres distance.
Hotel Features. An Anglo Greek family run complex of apartments, the New Kydonia is set on the hillside above Daratsos, among gardens and lawns with swimming pool and enclosed children's pool by a sun terrace. There are complimentary Internet connections, and private parking is also complimentary.
The Pavilion at New Kydonia serves home cooked Cretan, Greek and international dishes using fresh local produce and home grown olive oil. Vegetarian and children's menus are available, and there is a weekly barbecue buffet. The restaurant bar serves drinks until late.
Table tennis, table football, pool and darts are available, and the hotel has a library with local guides and maps, and DVD library. Outdoors is a shady, grassy play area for children, and nearby beaches offer water sports from scuba diving to jet skiing and wind surfing.
Apartments. The 23 apartments at New Kydonia have bedrooms, lounges with televisions and DVD players, kitchens, and bathrooms. All are decorated in a simple modern style and have balconies or terraces. Complimentary high speed Internet connections, direct dial telephones, safe deposit boxes, and hair dryers are also offered.
Expert Tip. The Samaria Gorge is a refuge for the rare Kri Kri or Cretan goat. The gorge's section known as the 'Iron Gates' close to a width of only four metres, reaching up to 500 metres high. |

From Chania Crete Airport (CHQ):
Distance to New Kydonia is 15 kilometres, approximately 25 minutes' drive.
Getting there. The hotel recommends either car hire or a taxi direct to the hotel costing around 25 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Crete's resorts are small and best explored on foot. Scooters and bicycles can be hired at the hotel. Taxis are reasonably priced. A car is recommended for exploring further afield.
Driving directions. Follow the signs for Hania and drive to centre of town.
Once in the centre, follow signs for Kastelli/Kissamos.
Continue for four kilometres in a westerly direction until you come to a Renault car showroom and BMW car showroom on right and left, and turn left signed Galatas/Daratsos.
After approximately 200 metres take the left fork to Daratsos and continue up and over the bridge running over the motorway.
Follow road uphill all the way to the village square.
Turn left into square and cross it.
New Kydonia is opposite you on the hill top, follow signs and take first right up the hill and turn sharp left into the car park.
