Location.The Sonesta Hotel is located in Port Said, Egypt, at the entrance to the Suez Canal on the Mediterranean Sea. It is 1.5 kilometres from the beach and two kilometres from the National Museum.

Hotel Features.
This modern three storey hotel is set in landscaped gardens, overlooking the harbour. The property boasts a large, octagonal outdoor swimming pool with poolside bar and sun loungers, and movie showings and cabarets take place during the summer.

The lobby café serves fresh pastries and ice creams. The Sonesta Hotel also has two onsite restaurants, one specialising in Italian cuisine, and the other serving an international menu around the clock, with options for children and vegetarians. A lounge bar offers alcoholic and soft drinks accompanied by live music. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily.

High speed Internet connections are available (surcharge) throughout the hotel, and business guests can take use meeting rooms with audio visual equipment.

In addition to an onsite playground, the hotel can also host children's parties.

Guestrooms.The hotel's 110 air conditioned guestrooms include satellite television with pay movies, direct dial phones, minibars, complimentary newspapers, and Internet connections. Decor is neutral with light wood furnishings.

Expert Tip. Port Said's Military and National Museums, both two kilometres away, are well worth a visit. The latter includes exhibits covering the period when the Pharaohs still ruled Egypt.

  From Cairo International Airport (CAI):
Distance to the Sonesta Hotel is 175 kilometres, approximately 120 minutes' drive.

Getting there.Taxis for central Cairo can be found in front of the Arrivals hall. The fare should be negotiated prior to departure, and should cost around 70 EGP 80 EGP. Buses run between the airport and central Cairo, and airport bus services run from Terminal One (Old Airport). The number 400 bus leaves about every 30 minutes throughout the day, and hourly at night. Prices are subject to change.

Getting around.The cheap and reliable metro system is the best way to explore Cairo. Minibuses and buses are a common form of transport; however taxis are a good alternative. A river bus travels down the Nile from Cairo. Boats leave regularly for the University. Every other boat continues on to Rhoda, Manial, Masr al Qadima (old Cairo) and Giza. Driving is not advised for visitors due to congestion in the city.
