Location. The Fairmont Heliopolis is located in Cairo, Egypt, in the upscale neighbourhood of Heliopolis, five kilometres from Cairo's old town, and 20 kilometres from the Cairo Citadel; Cairo International Airport is five kilometres away.
Hotel Features. The hotel is located in a sprawling modern building, with two landscaped outdoor swimming pools, surrounded by sun beds and umbrellas. There is a health club on site offering massage, a steam room, a sauna, and fitness equipment. There is also a separate children's pool and tennis courts. A hair salon and beauty services are also available. The hotel also has its own casino. Further amenities include computer rental and valet parking (surcharge).
Fairmont Heliopolis offers three restaurants. Chinois Restaurant serves Asian dishes and sushi for lunch and dinner daily. Al Dabke Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and serves Lebanese dishes; live entertainment is provided in the evenings. My King of Place Restaurant opens early until midnight for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel also offers an outdoor café with a patio, and the Rainbow Bar, decorated with white walls, pillars, and dark wooden furniture. 24 hour room service is available.
The hotel offers a business centre, and wireless Internet can be accessed in public areas. Conference and meeting rooms are available.

From Cairo International Airport (CAI):
Distance to Fairmont Heliopolis is 5 kilometres approximately 10 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Taxis for central Cairo can be found in front of the Arrivals hall. The fare should be negotiated prior to departure, and should cost around 70 EGP 80 EGP. Buses run between the airport and central Cairo, and airport bus services run from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). The number 400 bus leaves about every 30 minutes throughout the day, and hourly at night. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. The cheap and reliable metro system is the best way to explore Cairo. Minibuses and buses are a common form of transport, however, taxis are a good alternative. A river bus travels down the Nile from Cairo. Boats leave regularly for the University. Every other boat continues on to Rhoda, Manial, Masr al Qadima (old Cairo), and Giza. Driving is not advised for visitors, due to congestion in the city. |
