A towering high rise hotel set on the Nile's east bank, the Ramses Hilton is located next to a sprawling shopping, cinema and restaurant complex, and 13 kilometres from the Pyramids and Sphinx. This 36 floor hotel features 859 air conditioned guestrooms, all of which are decorated in pastel tones and open onto balconies with Nile or city views. Modern amenities include cable television, safes, and minibars, while bathrooms come with hair dryers, telephones, and bathrobes.
After breakfast, sun seekers can head for the outdoor swimming pool which is bordered by a sun deck and offers views of the Nile and a poolside area serving food and drink all day. The Windows on the World restaurant and cocktail bar on the 36th floor offers international dishes accompanied by belly dancers and panoramic views of Cairo reaching as far as the Pyramids, while the Sherlock Holmes Bar is a traditional English pub with music and a widescreen television. Sightseers will find plenty to occupy them in the hotel's vicinity, including the Egyptian Museum next door, the ancient citadel eight kilometres away, and the Coptic Hanging Church & Coptic Muse, 10 kilometres from the hotel. Cairo International Airport is 24 kilometres away, around 40 minutes by car. |

Black and white taxis are available from the airport to central Cairo. They leave from outside the Arrivals hall, and will cost around 11 USD to the hotel. An airport bus service operates from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). Bus service 400 leaves approximately every 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night. The inexpensive metro system is one of the best ways to explore Cairo. Buses and minibuses are still the most common form of transport for Cairenes, although taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river. Every second boat continues south to Manial, Rhoda, Giza and Masr al Qadima (old Cairo).
Driving directions: From the airport take Ouruba Road, then Salah Salem Road. Drive up the Sixth of October Bridge to Abdel Moneim Riad Square, where the hotel is located. |
